“Quarantine CARncerts”
Summer 2020
In the changes familiar to all artists brought on by the pandemic, planned events and concerts for The LeBaron Singers were cancelled for the summer of 2020. On our upward track to becoming more well-known, we felt a sudden halt when we were unable to be within six feet of anyone, even each other.
In an attempt to continue to do what we love, and to uplift others in their isolation, we started doing what we call “Quarantine Carncerts” in neighborhoods around northern Utah. Parking our cars next to each other, with sound system set up in the trunk, we spent the summer in various driveways singing for households gathered in their yards and on the street to hear familiar Broadway and Disney tunes.
In addition to these concerts we have also been “Quarantine Caroling”, standing on front lawns and singing a personal show tune to the (perhaps unfortunate) residents of that house. We have been sent by company managers, family and friends to sing to their loved ones and employees. I have officially lived the life of a singing telegram.
I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish during this time. We have met frustration and the feeling of failure, with a resolve to stay true to our story which has been surprising and untraditional from the beginning, always with an overall of celebration of family and love.
